Lamiya Hartli
(née Aghayeva Rasim Qizi)

Lamiya was a once in a lifetime kind of friend. Fun, rebellious (in a good way), and adventurous as well as absolutely loving, honest and fiercely loyal. She was passionate about classical music, literature, philosophy, psychology, and art and her conversations were always riveting. She was completely committed to raising William, Adam and Megan and did so with the greatest of love and integrity.

The thing I loved most about Lamiya is that when I was sad about something, she would be so outraged… almost like it was happening to her. When I was happy, she would be waving flags and championing me with all the devoted support of a sister. We cried together, and I mean raw, unflinching outbursts of grief at the injustices and pains of life. But I can tell you we also laughed, and hugged, and laughed again. A once in a life time friend, a once in a lifetime person, and I’m grateful for her life.

Please know William, Adam and Megan that I’m here for you and I won’t stop praying for you all. I know you are strong, intelligent and beautiful people and there are so many people who want to give you all the love and support they can. I’m so sorry for your colossal loss. May your mum’s amazing love and strength live on in you.
