So sorry to hear of Larrys passing, may he Rest in Peace.

I knew Larry Byrne from his time as a production foreman in Kelly’s Bakery. I once asked him if he was related to the actor Gabriel Byrne.
He smiled and said: “He’s my brother.”
“I knew it,” I exclaimed.
He laughed then and said: “No, we are not related.”
He could have kept up the pretence, but one of Larry’s endearing qualities was his honesty.
He did tell me that he had been mistaken for the actor in the past and it was easy to see why. If Gabriel Byrne needed a stand-in. Larry could have been it.
I left the bakery in 1989 and our paths never crossed again, but I remember his good humour, sense of decency and... his honesty. Larry managed the day shift in the bakery and did it very well.
To Kathleen, David and Stephen, to all who are mourning his passing today, please accept my deepest sympathy. — Vincent Sutton
