I was very sad to hear the news of Leo's sudden passing. My sincere condolences to Maureen and all the family.

Leo was such a kind, funny and genuine person. I always felt better after being in his company. He was brilliant at his job and was such as asset to FCC. I have many fond memories of days in his jeep travelling North County discussing Pay & Display issues and then the chats over a pot of teas afterwards.
Thank you Leo for your company over the years. It was an honour to know you and I will miss you. Rest in peace Leo.

It is with great sadness I have learned of the passing of Leo. He the kindest,most caring & most generous person I have ever had the privilege to work with. His storytelling was legendary & he could bring wit to any situation. One's day was always the better for having met him, you walked away from him in laughter.

He was a great character with such a witty sense of humour and great fun, he was a brilliant storyteller and often included his beloved Maureen in his stories. He was one of life's best, a gentleman with a hilarious sense of humour. He never failed to make me laugh and all those around him. I have the fondest memories of many New Year's Eve parties in Skerries. He really knew how to throw a party. I am thinking of you all especially Maureen and Catherine and keeping you in my prayers. Leo was a gentleman and a wonderful character, a great raconteur, a teller of tall tales and great jokes, he was marvellous company.
He was a great asset to the County Council, he had a prodigious knowledge of the planning system and all things Engineering.
A knowledge that he shared with his fellow work colleagues.
He was a fantastic friend, I shared many a coffee with him and Maureen.

I shall greatly miss him, rest in peace Leo, it was an honour to know you.

He never missed a chance to liven up your day with a hilarious comment. Though I hadn't seen Leo much in the latter years the memories are great and like everyone in the Cooney household we were very upset to hear of his untimely passing. Thank you for everything Leo and the best ever BB joke.
