Leo McGrath

We are so sadenned to hear of Leo's passing and offer our deepest condolences to all his family and friends. We have very fond memories of meeting him on his visits to Dublin, usually on the occasion of a rugby match in Lansdowne Road. May he Rest in Peace.

Sincerest condolences to all Leo's loved ones. Some of my most cherished childhood memories are of the sing-songs Leo would lead at Glenstal summer camps. He was always a joy to be around. May he Rest in Peace.

He made a such difference to our young lives, as a house master, rugby coach and of course as a teacher. It was always a pleasure meeting him in the various reunions over the years. This is indeed a sad day. Leo arrived in the school the same year as myself. My housemaster in my second year, he became something of a mentor for me. He also became a good family friend and was a regular and welcome visitor to our house.

We stayed in touch after school, and we shared many a beer in various hostelries in Limerick and various holiday resorts in Clare over the years. His enthusiasm and gregariousness were infectious. I have no doubt that he is resting in peace.

It was always lovely and a source of happiness to meet Leo, and I was delighted to see him again only a few months ago. His was a life spent looking after others. His sense of humour was unique and infectious. He was always a team player. He had admirable moral courage in doing the right thing, regardless of what others thought. It was such a pleasure to have known him for the last 69 years.
I offer my most sincere sympathy to his family. May he rest in peace.

I am sorry to hear of Leo’s passing. As my junior housemaster and teacher, he offered unwavering support and guidance that shaped my time at school and beyond. I fondly remember our many golf trips and the fun had. Leo will be remembered as one of the all time greats of Glenstal Abbey School.
