I was sorry to hear about Leo’s passing. He was a great character, and I have lots of happy memories of him as I grew up. Remembering his funny stories (some not so funny), cleaning his car so you could see yourself in the reflection of the paint. He was so proud of his Volkswagens, no other make was worth a look at. I used to rile him up, saying his car was just an “Estate” car.

I remember his dogs and walking them around in the evening, and he always had a word to say as he walked by Mark, myself and all the lads. it may not have been a pleasant word, but it was always a funny one.

I also remember him sitting in his chair in the sitting room as I’d call around, and he’d be chatting away while Mark and Sylvia tried to stop him from talking to me so we could head off to wherever we had planned.

He was a lovely man, and I have great memories of him.
