After reading today's obituaries column in the times weekend edition, I feel that Liam Carroll's contribution to the housing sector was misunderstood by us all.
He may well have been a visionary builder that we could do with today.

Liam was an unassuming, kind and considerate man. One particular memory stands out which illustrates this. I was one of very few young women working on one of his projects in the early 2000s. As the owner of a multi billion euro business, he cared enough to take the time to locate me on the construction site and hand me a Mass card for the passing of my dear father. A true gentleman. My condolences to his much loved family. May he rest in peace.

I’d like to express my deepest condolences to Roisin, Nuala, Brona and Conor on the passing of Liam.

I have many fond memories of working with Liam on projects across Dublin. It was at Liam’s side, I cut my teeth as an urbanist, learning about the business and the politics of city building. Looking back, I am in awe of the scale of some of the projects, and at the same time, I realise that it was Liam’s common sense and pragmatism, combined with his humility and gentleness, that made it possible for us to navigate such great undertakings.

We made many projects together, and I got to know many previously unknown parts of Dublin, being driven around by Liam in his famously unglamourous Toyota. He always made sure I was fed and he would even drop me off at meetings with other clients, such was his thoughtfulness.

I especially remember when Liam brought the family over to experience Copenhagen and the remarkable evening when Liam and Roisin dined at home with Jan and Ingrid Gehl. A home-cooked meal at the kitchen table, totally appropriate for the meeting of these two great but modest men.

Today I will light a candle in Lund Cathedral, a building we visited together with the Carroll family during their short visit to Scandinavia.

I worked for Zoe development's in the nineties. I was treated very well by Liam Carroll it is with great sadness to learn of his passing. May he rest in peace.

Heartfelt sympathy to the Carroll family on the death of Liam RIP. We are still thrilled with our wonderful town house in Fisherman’s Wharf build by him in his early days. It was a great home for our 5 children doing long courses in college in Dublin. He was a talented Dundalk man. God bless his loved ones.

I had the pleasure of working for Liam at zoe development for 7 years, fantastic days and great memories, Liam was a gentleman,his legacy will live on. May he rest in peace.

Through my years in the crane business I had the pleasure of working on many of Liam's projects in Dublin erecting and dismantling the many red tower cranes that dominated the Dublin skyline. To see the all the names popping up on this page, brings back great memories, of the good times that were had. Its a testament to Liam that his former employees are now involved in major projects all over the world. Whenever I meet a former employee, Liam is always spoken about in great fondness.

Please accept my condolences to Liam's family, my association began in the then fells point hotel in Tralee, later to the old base for the cranes in East wall and later to the job in Limerick, I still feel pride having worked for Bronzone in them days, I remember once Liam coupling up a morter tub to my chains as he left the site casually knowing well what was going on, I still get great milage out of that, he gave me a great start .
