Your loss is a great loss but you have left behind much that is generous, beautiful and full of joy. We're better for having known you, in whatever way we have, and there is no finer thing to say about a man. Thank you for the music of your life.
I'm Now 64 and been living here over 40 years but the most records I have are of the Clancy Brothers. In fact they were my first records. I was born in Nenagh.
May you always play in Heaven and may every song be a prayer to guide us there,
Rest in Peace Liam.

"And when I'm done with wandering
I'll sit beside the road and weep
For all the songs I did not sing
And promises I did not keep"
My sincere sympathy on the death of Liam.
He gave me many an enjoyable hour, and still will.

As you sung in your song "I knew this place" you "lay me down to sleep". In my mind and heart that is all you are doing because since I have heard of your death I have played your "Wheel of Life" album over and over and it appears your voice has taken on an extra softness and gentleness to me in every song on it. I feel your new presence in it and know you are always with us.
Liam brought joy and happiness to so many people the world over. A true legend! Go ndéana Dia trócaire air.
Liam, you truly were a legend. I had the pleasure of meeting you in Bray when you played the Mermaid theatre in December 2007. Your music always had a huge effect in my life. I was totally moved by your performance that evening and I regret missing your show in the NCH this year. May you Rest in Peace and my thoughts are with your family and friends. It truly was an honor to have met you.
Great memories of the Clancys when I was young and we only had a radio, we would listen for hours and wait in hope to hear The Clancy Brothers sing and as a young chap I thought they were singing at the other end at the radio station; great memories. May they sing forever; Ted

One of the greatest balladeers the world has seen.
His singing was the total package, a theatrical performance which often raised the hairs on the back of my neck.
Gone but never to be forgotten.

My heartfelt deepest sympathy to all the Clancy family on their very sad loss. Liam is a Legend and will always be remembered in our family. May God Bless you all xxx
I grew up listening to the beautiful, haunting voice of Liam Clancy. Although I loved his singing I loved his recitations even more. He mastered the art of leaving his voice lingering in your head long after you had listened to him. Thank you so much for the pleasure of your voice.
Liam, you will be sadly missed!

Some people come into our lives and quickly go, some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same. Liam will be remembered long after the flowers have faded and now heaven has a wonderful singer for its choir so sing with the angels Liam, and may you rest in everlasting peace.

One of my lights have gone with the passing of Liam Clancy. I have a great memory of going to the National Stadium in the early '60 to see and hear The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. A night to remember! Sincere sympathy to all who are close to him.

Liam,
You were the voice of my childhood. Listening to you sing was just one of the most uplifting things for me. Watching your last DVD at the bitter end was both joyous and sad, knowing that you were the only one left. There will be one great reunion tonight. Rest in Peace, your likes will never be seen again.

Will be sadly missed remember the songs from when I was a boy listening on my mum's lap so many years ago. Farewell to a legend.
I first met Liam when he came to Chicago with Tommy in 1984. I had only been listening a few months, but the music had already touched me deeply. It was a delight to meet Liam and travel to hear him whenever I could. He blessed us all so greatly over the years, and he will be deeply missed. My condolences to Kim and to all the family.

Condolences to Kim and all the family. Liam was a good man and a powerful voice for Ireland, its music, poetry and heritage.
I am very sorry to hear of Liam's passing. I feel very humbled to think that only last September he signed his autobiography for me despite his illness. Even in ill health, he still had time for his fans.
My sympathies to all of Liam's family and many friends.

Although we never met, I am very sad today on the passing of Liam, my favorite Irishman. Ireland is a poorer place without him.
May Liam rest in peace. He brought us all much joy.
I remember Liam Clancy when he visited Nenagh, Co. Tipperary in May 1998. I was a member of the then Nenagh Singers Circle (now gone), and a young club singer. This meeting took place during the annual Tall Ships Race held in Dublin. There was an article on him in the following month's (June) Irish Music magazine as well as a feature on the above Singers Circle, and myself.
The following August, at a Cherish the Ladies concert in Portumna, Co. Galway, I had the distinction of meeting group guitarist Aoife Clancy, a daughter of his brother Bobby. I also saw on RTE a few years ago, a programme on his life and times. I think he will be best remembered for the song, 'The Band Played Waltzing Matilda', which built a house for him!

A bright light has gone out
Dear Kim, Peg & Kevin
My fondest memory of Liam is my final talk with him this last July. We shared what it was like to be a writer. How we left certain little details out but how we chose to ultimately be true to the story, and to the events that happened, even if it upset certain people.
We were sorry for that. But to tell a man's story well, it needed to be told truthfully.
Liam told his. I told mine about him and his brothers and Tommy. We both rested well knowing we did our best.
My heart is with you all, Karen

I heard the Clancy Bros & Tommy Makem in Galway, Cork, Dublin & elsewhere and they always had the audience enthralled. They lifted the spirits of their listeners and performed each song or tune as if it was their first time.
I attended every annual visit of Liam and Tommy Makem to Dublin and cherish the memories.
Ireland has suffered another great loss with Liam's passing.

It was an honor and a pleasure to meet you last March for the last time when you were in New York celebrating the release of the Carnegie Hall Concert. Your work has been a great pleasure and inspiration to the Irish everywhere and you along with your brothers Tom, Paddy, Bobby and Tommy Makem will always be music to our ears.
