Always encouraging when we met, you both will recall he graciously invited me to his conferring of Honorary UCD Doctor of Science and the after dinner in Newman House that evening in 2014. It is with great sadness that Mary and myself have learned of the passing of Liam . My relationship with Liam stretches back to our respective roles with the CII and IDA Ireland when we collaborated in the interests of Ireland. In more recent years , we met regularly at his favourite rendezvous at the RDS when his beloved deceased Marie was never far from the conversation . His pride in his Roscommon heritage was another constant . Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic cruelly fractured our get togethers. Our heartfelt sympathies to Rachel and her brothers and to his siblings on their profound loss.
My condolences to you all on the death of your wonderful dad. He was a stalwart in Engineers Ireland and a true gentleman

Dear Rachel, I have just learnt of your father's passing. Please accept my deepest condolences on your very sad loss. I know how much you all admired and revered him. Kind regards, Jim.
My sincere condolences to all of Liam’s family on your loss.

Liam was very kind and supportive to me at the beginning of my career. His dedication to those who were lost in the Staines plane disaster with regard to ensuring their memory was always remembered with regard to Ireland’s role with the EU was a great tribute who lost their lives. He was also was one of the first leaders in terms of the first discussions on North-South business cooperation to improve relations across the island.

He leaves a wonderful legacy. May he rest in eternal peace.
Was lucky to work with Liam through both European Movement Ireland and the Michael Sweetman Educational Trust; a really lovely man; a gentleman.
We are so sorry to hear of Liam’s passing. He achieved so much in his life and enriched the world of engineering, business and social progress. May he rest in peace.
Thinking of you, Rachel and the boys, in memory of your compassionate, inclusive and loving Dad. His signature modesty drew us all to him and he was always there to help with his wise counsel and unflagging support. His death draws to a close a golden era of the past where he valiantly herded your exquisite Mum, our Mum Leila and their joyous flock of cousins on the annual pilgrimage to Lowfield and Scrabbagh and to languorous Summer lunches together in Dublin.

We will not see his like again. A sincere gentleman; selfless, tender, brilliant. He will not be forgotten.
Deepest sympathy to the Connellan family.
Liam made a huge contribution to the construction and engineering industry in Ireland and he enriched the lives of all who worked with him. We mourn a true west of Ireland man whose death is a great loss to the country.
The family can be justly proud of his wonderful life and achievements.
