It is with sadness to learn of the passing of Liam
We offer our sincere and deepest sympathy to his wife Anne, all of his children, the extended Dwan family, Muintir na haite, ar fud na Tire agus ar fud an Domhain go leir.
While remembering Liam with the great affection of wonderful memories in a similar way to that of the entire Community during his long adventurous, and interesting life and work, Liam the serious family man,the Actor, the Dramatist, the many roles and character’s he portrayed over the years in Tops of the Town, There was another side to Liam Dwan, part of which I was privileged to witness over the Years in the late 70’s and 80’s and that was Liam’s great generosity, and his contribution to his local communities affairs.
Liam was also a former member and great supporter of the voluntary work of the Athlone Sub Aqua Club and during my time as Chairman and Pro for the Club in the 80’s and 90’s he presented the Club with its first equipment and transport Van which played an immeasurable part in the future development of the club and its members in the subsequent years.
During the Construction of Des Earls Pub in the Eighties by direct Labour, Des was struggling to finish in time for -, a Dumper and driver hadn’t arrived.-
Panic, Liam with sleeves rolled up was soon speeding across the Town Bridge from Bliary in a Dumper, foot to the Floor.
That was Liam Dwan:- Just a few of many memories.
