Margaret and Family, we have only recently heard of the death of Liam and are deeply sorry for your dreadful loss. The artists, and customers, of Merrion Square have such fond memories of him. He is on our website in the interview for Nationwide. The sudden loss of such a good, kind man will deeply affect everyone. Please accept our condolences at this late stage. May he rest in peace.
It is with great sadness that I write to pay respects to uncle Liam. I was disappointed that I couldn't make the funeral in person however the online ceremony was lovely. It was also nice to see a glimpse of some cousins after such a long time. The eulogy by David was a wonderful celebration of some of Liams memorable milestones and achievements fitting of a great man, father and husband. Thanks David for sharing these so admirably with us.

My sincere sympathy and prayer to David and family on the sudden death of your father Liam. RIP. Sr Rosella and Community (Consolata) are with you in prayer.
To Margaret and the Hayden family - we were very saddened to hear of Liam's passing.
We met him through Declan when we were still teenagers and still would see his online posts for many years after we moved away from Ireland. We'll especially remember Liam for his lifelong learning - whether it was about engineering and technology or art and helping sell Margarets artwork , his commitment to his family and his welcoming spirit.
Our deepest sympathies to you all and may Liam rest In peace

My sincere condolences David to you and your family on the passing of your Father Liam. May he rest in peace.
Dear Uncle Billy,
You were an amazing man, with such a brilliant smile and such zest and passion for life. I shall forever be grateful for you sharing your knowledge which was vast and wide, you always had such desire to learn new things and to share that knowledge with family and friends. I will always cherish your love and compassion when Elaine (Eileen to you) my mum your sister died. I'm so sorry that we won't get to share a chat face to face again, to agree and disagree to discuss and put the worlds to right. My thoughts are with Margaret, David, Bill, Deirdre, Paul, Philip, and with Declan who you and Margaret lost so young. I will also think of your grandchildren and great grand child who you loved and were so very proud of, sharing their many achievements with the world. Some of my favourite photos that you shared are you and Margaret with them, loving and enjoying life.
Lots of love Catherine (Niece), Steven and Selby

Grandad, I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to have you as a Grandad. One of my first and favorite memories is when you would pretend to be a crocodile, crawling across the carpet in Shankill trying to catch us as we squealed with laughter jumping across the furniture! You are loving and thoughtful and I will miss so much talking and laughing with you about anything and everything, no topic too big or small. You’ve shown me the greatest example of love, and kindness and you have a thirst for knowledge unmatched! It was incredibly special to see you as a proud Great Grandad to Arlo, letting him sleep on your lap for hours while you and Granma sang to him, special memories that he will have forever. I sing him your song every day and it will always always make me smile and think of you. I love you, I miss you, I’ll see you again xxx all my love and more
David, Condolences to you and your family on the passing of your father. He sounds like such an interesting person who lived a fulfilled life. May he Rest in Peace.
I feel drawn to the memories that I was fortunate to share with him and wish that I could have recognised sooner just how special they were. I like to remember how we was. He was a soft-spoken man but certainly not quiet. Ever the chatterbox, he could talk your ear off for hours on end ranging from the most mundane to the profound, about someone's third cousin that you should meet or about the detailed history of the world. He was wise, but did not laud it over you. He had such a genuine eagerness to share and teach, that he burst with knowledge - I have not met anyone that had such an encyclopedic knowledge as he had. Similarly, he never stopped learning and was hungry to learn more - nevermind his age and what stereotypes were put upon him, he would become one of the more tech-savvy persons of the family. It was through the virtual world that I connected with him most, helping him stay connected which gave him an opportunity to share the latest online trend or news story back at me. Whenever I shared any story online, within moments there would be the sweetest message about "what a fine young man I'm turning out to be". I would pass it off as just grandpa snooping again and joke about how much he spends on the computer, but I secretly was happy to see his messages. I would tease him often and he took it in good stride, ever the kind hearted soul he was. I can only hope that I can be a fraction of the man he was. Liam will always be my grandpa and I will miss him dearly.

With deepest sympathy to all the family.
Throughout my life I have been very fortunate to have spent a lot of time with Liam, as he was always around for us the grandchildren. Although the memories are now somewhat difficult to reflect on, there are a few that are very prominent. “People don’t remember what you did, they remember how you made them feel”
The summer I graduated from University, I didn’t yet have a job and I was delighted to spend a few weeks in the summer at Shankill. I worked on a project to build a website to promote and potentially sell Margaret’s (Grandma) paintings online, something that Liam had proudly done for years at Merrion Square. Although privately I thought it difficult to believe that the website was going to be a commercial success, we always admired Liam for wanting to embrace the new technologies. We also designed business cards together, something he could distribute by hand. That summer, the new Aviva football stadium was unveiled, and Liam enthusiastically insisted we should go to the game. I was very excited, arranged the tickets and we travelled into town to collect them together. Ireland played Argentina in a friendly, and in front-row seats we witnessed Lionel Messi play, who received a standing ovation from the home Irish crowd.
Liam always cared about his family more than the world, and his kindness will never be forgotten.

Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences to Liam's family, thinking of all the family at this very tough time, I unfortunately won't be able to attend Friday but you will all be in my thoughts, may he rest in peace.
I am saddened by the news of Liam's death. He and I were both descendants of the McDonalds of Newtownmountkennedy. I only met him, along with my cousin Eric Breslin, for the first time three years ago when we had a lovely afternoon's conversation in his house along with Margaret and Kay to whom I convey my deepest sympathy. Unfortunately the public health situation put further plans on hold. Furthermore I shall be unable to attend the funeral service.
May you rest in peace, Liam.

Dear Auntie Margaret, David, Bill, Paul, Deirdre and Philip - so sorry and shocked to learn of the sudden death of Uncle Billy. I hope that you will find solace as all of you, his extended family and friends remember him and his life with such affection. While it is as yet hard to believe he is no longer here he will, I'm sure, have been met by not least Declan. Also his brothers John and Barney and sister Eileen. With love, LAH
