Very sorry to hear of the passing of Liam Myers and my condolences to his wife Bernie and family and to Margaret and to Patsy, who along with Liam, I knew as a young boy before our family left Ballyporeen in 1969. From the condolences I read that he was a gentleman and kind and he demonstrated that to me many many years ago. As a young boy in the 1960's Liam gave me an advantage of many aces in a game of handball and said that if I beat him he would give me two shillings. I did not expect to win but I barely did, and most of all I did not expect he would pay me his bet but he did. That two shillings meant the world to me any my mother at the time and I never forgot how honourable Liam was and I regret that in later life I never met Liam again to thank him.
