I am very sad to hear the news about Liam. I met Liam in The Lounge, (Valencia) when I worked there many years ago. I always found him to be kind, extremely generous to people in need, very easy going and just a genuine person. Over the last few years we didn’t stay in contact and I was only thinking about him last week.

Hello All,

I am the American he met in Zaragoza. I was traveling to heal a broken heart. Meeting Liam was a fluke, or maybe not. Liam made me laugh loudly. It had been too long since I did that. He shared his story and I shared mine. We walked, and talked, and laughed, and took that final picture together. He loved you all, and missed you too. We decided we looked a lot alike and were probably cousins. My family came from County Cork and my daughter went to UCC. Small world. Please know, this encounter with Liam has helped heal my heart. As I cross the finish line of the NYC marathon this year, I will be thinking of Liam, and the amazing family he told me about. I am here to answer any questions you may have.

It was such a shock to learn of Liam's untimely passing. It is clear from reading here that he touched so many lives, leaving long-lasting memories, all of them positive with so many people.
I have great memories, too, of the many meetings we had, and it is difficult to accept there will be no more.

Can I express my deepest condolences to all of Liam's family- We have never met but Liam was a big influence on me at an important and impressionable age.
I hadn't met Liam since leaving Castleknock College in 1983. I was debating whether to go to our 40 year reunion last year until I heard Liam was going. That made up my mind. We had a great chat and it was so lovely to meet up again finally.
I was talking about Liam by chance the Friday evening before he passed with some friends - how Liam was so talented, getting A's in both art and English in the leaving if I recall correctly. I was telling them how he pointed out the error of my ways about my musical- listening habits when I was about 15- telling me the must see and must listen, on trend bands. Even recommending reading material such as the NME.
In the years since I left school I used often think of Liam but last summer was are only meet up.
This is too sad.
He was a really cool guy who certainly left his mark on me.
If I can't make it to Galway I will dial in online.
