On behalf of VEC Football Club and on my own behalf, please accept our sincere condolences on the sad death of Liam. His good humour, warmth and dry wit were legendary.

I had the pleasure of working with Liam – encountering him on my first day at work – in what was then the College of Technology, Kevin St. and then subsequently in the College of Technology, Bolton St. – now both part of TUDublin. He was also a terrific chess player and we had many notable encounters across the table.

Liam was one of the founder members of the VEC Football Club back in 1974 and the Club’s Honorary Secretary for our first 10 seasons – doubling up as Honorary Treasurer for half that time. It is still going strong and it’s poignant that Liam passed away on the same day as the Club formally celebrated its 50th year. May he rest in peace.
William /Liam was a friend of mine through Alone.Very sorry to hear of his passing.

Dear Vincent, Liz, Geraldine and family,

I was saddened to hear of Liams death, please accept my deepest condolences. I had the pleasure of working with Liam in the Registrations Department at DIT for several years.

Liam had a back catalogue of experience and an extensive knowledge of the workings within the institute. He was exemplary at his job and went above and beyond in helping students.

It was never boring, we had lots of good chats, laughs whilst getting the work done. I recall numerous stories of the travelling adventures with his friends and his critique of the latest film he had seen at the pictures.

I know he is probably having a cuppa or a 99 flake ice cream whilst doing the crossword in the Times. He was a true gentleman and I feel blessed to have known him.

Most sincerely,
Caroline (COD) – TU Dublin.
