Linton Walsh

I'm very sorry to hear about the passing of Linton. I served him for many years in my former workplace. You couldn't meet a truer gentleman. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

Linton was one of a kind, strong minded, gregarious, extremely likeable and great to be in his company. We will miss you Linton.

Just heard of Linton’s passing here in Barbados. I will never forget the help and support he gave us at Killeen Castle for the 2011 Solheim Cup and the 5 Ladies Irish Open’s. He was a purist lover of golf and made people happy with his laughter. Remember him with a smile..as he would have wished.

Was really shocked and saddened to learn the news of Linton’s sudden passing. Enjoyed many fun times together through golf, particularly when we travelled to Hungary all those years ago to play golf and visit a golf project. Your laugh and sense of fun was infectious, I can hear it now. May you rest and find peace Linton and my thoughts and prayers are with your family. RIP

Dear Maura and the Walsh family - wanted to express my deepest condolences to you and your family for the loss of Linton. LInton and I worked together for many years when I was the Head of Golf Digest International from 2010-2019. He had a heart of absolute gold and the best sense of humor. What he accomplished as the longstanding publisher and editor of Golf Digest Ireland was incomparable and respected by all in the golf industry and international community. Linton was a beacon of light to the entire Golf Digest International family and a kind and generous friend to everyone. We all mourn his passing and will be forever grateful and thankful that we were able to benefit from his kind and generous spirit.

May you be at peace, Linton. I will cherish the fond memories of our encounters together. You are sadly missed

Our deepest sympathy. Linton was a true leader and inspiration. We all have lost a dear friend. It was Linton who got us into the veterans programs that we are still doing today under our charity Fairways for Freedom. And it was Linton who came up with the idea to recruit "Ambassadors" to sponsor the veterans, which is still the backbone of our program today. If it weren't for Linton, there would be no FFF! Our epic dinner in Dublin back in 2012 is indelible in our memories and truly changed our lives. With love and sadness…

So sorry to hear this news. One of the best things about working for Golf Digest was meeting up with Linton somewhere in the world for work, golf and conversion. He was always such a generous and entertaining friend. He’d often come to London for the day—I remember how he’d speak of home and family life with such warmth and love. I thought of him as a tough guy with an absolute heart of gold.

Linton always stood out. He had a disarming charm, a mischievous smile and a cool name. As kids growing up in Glenageary, he was always one step ahead of us all – a rogue, but always great fun to be with. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. I was so sad to hear of Linton's passing. We worked together for a couple of years when I was young, wild and difficult. He always understood, even when I disappointed him he never judged. He was, and remains, one of the greatest influences of my life. The work I now do helps young men to work through difficult times. It is rooted in the professional and personal advice Linton instilled in me. His friendship and mentorship all those years ago helps me to help others and will continue to do so. Love, light and my deepest condolences to you all. Nobody ever truly leaves, and nobody is ever born who has not already been here before.
