Lorcán O'ROURKE

Our sincere sympathy to Phil, Aoife, Enda and the extended O'Rourke family on the death of Lorcán.I first met him well over forty years ago in St Pat's Training College and seldom have I encountered a more genuine person. He was kind, honest, wise,unselfish and a true gentleman. He transported many of his newly acquired friends all over Dublin on his Honda 50 never accepting a dime,he guided us on the streets of Dublin and on life's journey, a truly exceptional human being.His loss to you his family is immense but the love and memories he brought to you is incalculable. May he rest peacefully with Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary ,to whom he was ever devoted, together with Ciarán and his own parents.

Sincere sympathy to Phil, Aoife and Enda on Lorcán's sad passing. My sympathy also goes to Mary, Anne, Fr. Caoimhín, Fran, Gerard and Seán. Lorcán and I were underage team mates in Galway City, with St Kierans (football) and St Augustines (hurling) and won many medals together including Co. Minor Football exactly 60 years ago. We spent many summer evenings, wet and dry, practising in the field opposite Newcastle Post Office, now part of the university campus, and I always received a warm welcome in Newcastle Lodge, Lorcán's home afterwards. May he Rest in Peace.

Lorcán's legacy in Handball is irreplaceable, given his immense contributions to the sport. Lorcán was a huge help to me in my time as National Manager. His kindness and reassuring nature were constants, and his wealth of knowledge and advice was unparalleled and truly appreciated over the years. I always enjoyed meeting with Lorcán and you always came away from meeting with him in better spirits. He will be sadly missed by all.

I was at Lorcán's funeral Mass earlier, a fitting send off to a wonderful man. Lorcán's brother Fr.Caoimhín did a wonderful job as main Celebrant and the choir were beautiful. Well done to everyone, I'm sure Lorcán's good work will continue from above. 🙏
