Lorraine McDyer O'Connor

What a shock to hear that Lorraine has died! She was our dear and beloved colleague in the period that we were working for the Grundtvig programme. I remember her as a punctual and committed woman, full of energy, attention, humour and kindness. She organised and participated in so many NA meetings and contact seminars. It was always a great pleasure to meet and talk with her. I'm happy to have known her and will treasure the pictures and numerous good memories of her forever.
I feel so sorry for her son, husband and family.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Lorraine's passing. Lorraine has been a distinguished and beloved member of the European “Grundtvig family”, consisting of colleagues working in the field of the European cooperation in adult education. It has been a great pleasure and honour to work with such a wonderful person. Her professionalism, creativity, enthousiasm, friendliness and sense of humor lightened up both our formal meetings and informal gatherings. She will be missed greatly and remembered with love and respect. May she rest in peace. My sincere condolences to her family and loved ones

Lorraine was an excellent person, a very professional and dear colleague as well as someone really committed to making other persons’ lives better.

For Lorraine, adult education was a way to give a hand to people who really needed an opportunity to move forward in life and that’s what she did, always with great passion.

The very good memories of the hard work and great laughs shared at the European Commission and in many Grundtvig Learning Partnership Conferences, all around Europe, will stay in our hearts forever 🙏🏻

The news of Lorraine´s death has come as a great shock. As the person responsible for adult education at Léargas, Lorraine made an enormous contribution to the success of “Grundtvig”, the EU´s programme for European cooperation in this field. We will remember her as a dedicated colleague, insightful, supportive, constructively critical where necessary but always fair and with a warmth of heart, generosity of spirit and sense of humour which made her extremely popular with us all. I know I speak for her many friends and colleagues across Europe in saying that we will miss her very greatly. Our thoughts are with you as her family and loved-ones at this very difficult time, and we extend our sincerest condolences to you all.

My name is Beste, and I had the privilege of hosting Lorraine several times in Istanbul during her visits for treatment. She stayed in my Airbnb apartments, and I remember her as such a kind, gentle, and graceful person.

I just learned about her passing, and I’m truly heartbroken. Lorraine’s warmth and positivity left a lasting impression on everyone who met her.

I also remember how my 2-year-old son used to imitate her soft and elegant voice, it always made her laugh so much. That memory will stay in our hearts forever.
