We were very sorry to hear about the sad loss of Luke and send our deepest sympathies to Pat, Gillian and Vivian.
I worked with Luke in Stella Maris, Ballycastle in my early teaching career when Luke was vice-principal. He was a very kind and supportive colleague and a dedicated teacher too.
We fondly remember many social visits to his home at a time when we were settling in to a new area. May he rest in peace.

I recall Luke’s arrival in Stella Maris 50# years ago and what a blessing he was then and continued to be until the school closed. He touched so many young lives and, with his colleagues, promoted a unique ethos and culture in the school.

(I had hoped to be at today’s funeral mass but cannot make it). May you be consoled and comforted knowing that Luke’s ‘good works go before him’ and that he still loves and cares for each of you.

Mr FitzMaurice, for your unyielding kindness to every one you taught including myself, I want to say a sincere thank you. I can only imagine you are in heaven drawing impeccable diagrams and teaching the angels about the History of Ireland. May you gentle soul rest in enteral peace.

Vivenne & all the Fitzmaurice Family, I extend my sincere sympathy to you all on Luke's death. He was a dedicated & enthusiastic teacher always. Fond memories of him from Stella Maris, Ballycastle. May his kind & gentle soul rest in Heavenly peace.

Patricia, Gillian, Vivienne and all the extended family, I'm so sorry to hear of Luke's passing. We grew up in Kilkelly across the square from each other and later met again through hurling. I had many lovely journeys with Luke to matches. He was such a gentleman, so positive about everything, interested in people and he had a great grá for his county and for hurling. Most of all though he loved you all, his family and your loss is great indeed. May the Lord comfort you with his presence and may Luke rest in peace.
