I still remember cooking in her kitchen with her. It was the first time I ever cooked parsnips. We don't really cook them here in PA. First time for understanding Ireland plumbing too... lol and how the kitchen has doors. It's just a lot different than the US...but yet similar. I didn't know you could leave butter out on the table we put everythingin the refrigerator...she'd set the dishes before anyone was there.
Anyway... David's mom was an inspiration to me.. she taught me a ton in the little time I spent with her..

And I loved drinking with your dad in the smoke shed out back. I had to search around for him when I was there...sat in the lawn chairs with a smoke and whiskey.
I am grateful to know them. Taking them to Simon Pearce here in PA and Longwood gardens...even though your dad was like my dad and would rather stay home...lol. I still have the Simon Pearce vase your mom bought me and use it all the time for my roses. We got to tour the White house before all this nonsense. I'm glad we did that.
And to all your family...thank you for treating me like family when I visited. Thanks for teaching me about Ireland life...

My heartfelt sympathy to the Vaughan and O'Reilly families. Auntie Mabel was a fine woman and the best letter writer - my parents and I loved receiving Mabel’s Missives. My dad Christy and his brother Paddy visited Mabel and Evelyn when they were infants and were fascinated by Mabel’s curls and Evelyn’s straight hair. Those childhood friendships grew and remained strong.
