I have such fond memories of Madeleine at school in Killiney. She had a lovely nature and was always smiling. Like many of our classmates, I too have always remembered the big tins of Club Milk biscuits!! RIP Madeleine.
So sorry to hear of recent death. Condolences to Madeleine’s family from a classmate in Killiney. Madeleine always had a smile and was perpetually kind .
Dear Madeleine offered so much to so many. Joy, laughter, fun and deep rooted Montessori wisdom and knowledge. With appreciation for all the inspiration you shared over so many years.
With sadness, Micaela Kuh and all that are and have been part of TCHP over the years.
I am in no doubt as to how blessed I was to be educated in my formative years by the wonderful, trailblazing, enigmatic, extraordinary, sometimes impossible but always irresistible Miss Coen. We the few but many owe her so much. May her sweet soul rest in peace.
My very deepest sympathy to all the Coen family at this sad time of Madeleine's death. In memory of plenty of fun times during our school days and reunions over the years. May she rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing to all who had the good fortune of knowing Madeleine.

So sad to hear of the passing of Madeleine. Such a wonderful person. It was many a day I was walking the roads of Johnstown and she always stopped for a chat. She never failed to brighten peoples days with her endless positivity. Condolences to friend and family.
Deepest sympathy to all Madeleine's family. I spent a week in her class on teaching practice in 1971, and it remains one of my fondest Montessorian experiences. She exuded kindness, enthusiasm and boundless energy - even spending a "sleepover" with her pupils in The Children's House! Can you imagine such dedication? May she rest in peace.
A Lovely Woman and an inspirational teacher, someone both my sister Anna and I owe a huge amount too. She will be sorely missed but never forgotten. May she rest in peace
Sincere sympathy to Michael and family on the passing of Madeleine.May she rest in peace.
Sincere condolences to all Madeleines’ (always Miss Coen to me) family and friends. Miss Coen was such an amazing teacher-I feel so privileged to have been one of her students at the Children’s House. My brothers Mark, Alan, Keith and I have such great memories of our time there
Rest in Peace Madeleine
Madelaine had it all. Intelligence, care, love and firmness, with a strong sense of humour. She was fast too when teachers played pupils on the patch of grass in the garden, that was Wembley to many. Everything was so big back then. Her warmth and genuine interest when you returned to the school many years later confirmed all of this. We were privelidged to have such a 'safe' and solid start. May you rest in peace and thank you.
Sincere condolences to all of Madeline's close friends and family. I was one of the privileged children to have spent my formative years with Miss Coen at The Children's House. The ripple effect of her life is inspirational. May she be reincarnated into multiple educators although having achieved samadhi in this lifetime she is sure to be pulsating positivity from the earth's core.
We will never forget our time in Children's House, in the classroom, in that garden and on all those outings. Mum taught us about Montessori but you created the environment where we learnt to explore the world, to teach ourselves and work with others. These skills and that appetite have helped Everina continue running Mum's school and I wouldn't be the artist I am today, I wouldn't have had the courage to live in Belgium, Brazil, France nor Poland, without them. When it gets too much and I need to step back, I think of your calm, soft voice and sweet smile. Everina and myself miss you, thank you for everything.
May you rest in peace Madeleine. Sadly missed from your neighbours on Johnstown Ave, Kate & Andrew
A truly wonderful person and an inspiring teacher who will never be forgotten. Madeleine you will live on in the hearts of those who benefitted so much from your care.
With thanks for your great work from Bon, Emer, Niall and Georgia Tuohy
We are very saddened to hear of Madeleine's death. Both our children were students at The Children's House, where they flourished under the love, care, consideration and dedication shown by Ms Coen and her fellow teachers. As parents, we were also enriched by her. May she rest in peace and to her family we extend our sincere condolences....
Madeleine, you were one of the greats; you helped to keep Montessori at the forefront of education in Ireland. It was an honour and privilege to work alongside you for five glorious years. You showed such respect for every child and as Maria Montessori says you did truly "touch the child's imagination and enthuse him to his innermost core". Thank you for sharing your wealth of experience and for all the fun times we had together. Rest In Peace dear friend.
Sincere condolences to your brothers and family.
Ms Coen taught me in Sion Hill for my Communion year. I remember her so well even after so many years. So kind and thoughtful and an inspirational teacher. She brought me on my first school tour to Athlone and we had sandwiches in the Shamrock Lodge which was such a treat for us all. My deepest sympathies to all her family and friends. May She Rest in Peace.
Fond memories of Miss Coen, who taught me in 1st class in Sion Hill, way back in the early 1960s. May she rest in peace.

Rest in Peace.
Miss Coen had such an impact on so many lives, myself included. What a legacy she leaves behind and I will forever be thankful of learning from her. May she rest in peace. To her family and friends, I'm sorry for your loss.
Madeleine was a remarkable lady and an inspiration as a teacher, mentor and educator. She treated every child in her school with the upmost respect and love. I worked with her for 7 years and my memories of her are treasured. She will never be forgotten. My condolences to all her family and friends.
I have the loveliest memories of her. I changed career almost 20 years ago to become a teacher. ‘Everybody remembers their favourite teacher’ was one of the reasons for that change and looking back, she was mine. I hope that I can do her justice. She had genuine warmth, high expectations and a love of learning. My deepest condolences to her family.
Sincere condolences to the Coen family on the death of Madeleine, she was a wonderful lady and a brilliant teacher to my 3 children. We have wonderful memories of the children's house and it’s teaching methods and of course the many nature walks. Everyone attending the school felt special.
May she rest in peace.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Madeleine . As Montessorians , we all looked up to Madeleine . She was the role model we would aspire to become .. She was so gentle and welcoming to students and pupils alike. May she now Rest In Peace , having given so much to the children who were fortunate enough to have benefited from her influence. ...,,
Sincere sympathy to the Coen family, Madeleine was a lovely neighbour on Johnstown Avenue.
Deepest sympathy to all her family rip
Miss Coen (it is hard to think of her as anything else) left an indelible mark on the lives of all she met, and particularly on each child she taught and inspired. Her caring way, and her deep understanding of each child in her charge, set the bar so high for every subsequent teacher I had. Other teachers may fade from memory, Miss Coen never will. May she rest in peace, and may her family be comforted by the knowledge of the immense affection which she has inspired in the many who were fortunate to know her.
Sincere condolences to Frank and all the family. It was a privilege to have known Madeline. I have some great memories of Christmas in Galway. Rest in Peace.
