Condolences to the Stafford family, Maeliosa's performances for the Druid in the early eighties were epic and brought so much joy and laughter to Galway, his passing is a huge loss.

Sincere sympathies to Carolyn, Eoin, Cian, Aaille, Benen and the Stafford family in Galway on the shockingly sudden death of Maeliosa. He was a wonderful man, kind, generous and funny. It was amazing watching him on stage, the way he inhabited his characters. I watched him amazed, he appeared so physically changed. Both he and his family were always wonderful company and welcoming hosts. My heart goes out to you all for your sad loss and indeed to all his friends at home and abroad. Rest in peace Maeliosa, gone much too soon.

We had the pleasure of meeting him in Sydney during filming of Drop Dead Weird and he couldn’t have been kinder or more welcoming to us. We won’t forget him. Rest in peace ‘ Moy’.

To the Stafford Family, to Caroline and Maelíosa’s Australian family, there must be so much sadness to losea husband, father, brother and friend so suddenly. A sadness shared on this Island by so many. Tom and I didn’t see him often, but when we did we shared memories of wonderful theatrical times, especially Druid, where his acting and directing have been so uniquely praised. Working with Maelïosa was to feel the power of his ability and to know and appreciate his professional generosity.
