Sweet bitterness that death and loss brings. I have been encouraging my sister to read your books for years. Now that you have departed from our world she has sought to read your touching works. Thank you for all the wonderful hours of reading you have provided for so many. Ireland has lost another warm soul. My deepest sympathy to Gordon and family
My deepest sympathy to Maeve's dear husband, Gordon, and her Family and many friends on the death of their beloved Maeve.
Like so many others, I have never met Maeve, but having read many of her books and having enjoyed the many interviews both on the radio and television, I feel a great sense of loss and sadness.
She was such a lovely lady, with a wonderful sense of humour and she exuded great warmth, even in interviews, no wonder we are all so saddened by her passing. I regret that I never got to meet Maeve, I admired her so much and I just cannot imagine how difficult this must be for her dear Gordon. One hopes he will draw some comfort from the knowledge that she touched so many lives and she was genuinely loved by so many. May her gentle soul rest in peace and may the Good Lord comfort and console Gordon and the extended Family on their great loss.
The Rose Still Grows Beyond The Wall

Near a shady wall a rose once grew,
Budded and blossomed in God's free light:
Watered and fed by morning dew,
Shedding its sweetness day and night.
As it grew and blossomed fair and tall,
Slowly rising to loftier height,
It came to a crevice in the wall,
Through which there shone a beam of light.
Onward it crept with added strength
With never a thought of fear or pride,
It followed the light through the crevice length,
And unfolded itself on the other side.
The light, the dew, the broadening view
Were found the same as they were before.
And it lost itself in beauties new.
Breathing its fragrance more and more.
Shall claim of death cause us to grieve,
And make our courage faint or fall?
Nay, let us faith and hope receive,
The rose still grows beyond the wall.
Scattering fragrance far and wide,
Just as it did in days of yore.
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will forevermore.

rest in peace Maeve, you will be greatly missed x

Sincere sympathies to Gordon and all her family. reading Maeve's novels was like chatting with an old friend and the delight when a new book was published was unreal. I once took a days annual leave from work to finish a book! Maeves earlier novels set in the 50's gave me an appreciation that my own dear parents were actually young during those years and were in fact real people. For that and the great stories I thank Maeve. May she rest in peace.
