Maeve Coogan

I met Maeve in UCD and was immediately attracted to her radiance, her dynamism, her mischievous sense of humour - it was immediately obvious that she was a most impressive individual! I felt utterly privileged that she agreed to be my campaign manager in running for President of the Students’ Union. In this project she was truly phenomenal: she had boundless energy, creativity and organisational skills, not to mention bellyache-inducing humour, which was a much needed tonic at times. Most importantly she was a rock of support - the quality with which she did this set her apart. I am indebted to her for her friendship during those years and am very sad that we lost contact after UCD. Her passing is a huge loss to those lucky enough to have known her and many others who did not. Thank you Maeve for everything. May you rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of this very specal lady. Maeve and i did a play together in the Crypt in the late 90s. She was the star. A beautiful and honest actress. We became fast friends and even went on a package holiday to Turkey together. Maeve was fiercely loyal, hilarious and very kind. She was exceptionally bright and quick witted, and had a very strong sense of justice (something which often got her into a spot of bother!)
I regret that we lost contact , but I am so glad to have known her. I am so sorry for your loss.

There are some people that you never forget. Maeve was and remains one of those. I was her classmate in St Raphaela's and I was also her friend. But Maeve was friends with everyone, she was that kind of person - all in. Even as a teenager ( which is the only time I knew her ) she was kind, bright , outgoing , trustworthy, multi talented. She was the lead ( Laurey) in our school musical in 5th year and I remember her in her yellow and white costume like it was yesterday. She was the best and only choice for that role , for the role of editor of our school magazine ( Raphaelo' fax) and for her role as head girl in the school. I bet her children are just wonderful like Maeve My heart goes out to them and to her mum , her family and her friends. Rest well Maeve, you left your mark in this World. Antoinette x
