Maeve Murphy

My condolences to Mary, Brian and all the family. Maeve brightened many a class or study session across six years, with her quiet but sharp wit. May she rest in peace.

Maeve was a great mentor to me and I always appreciated and respected the advice she would give me. She will be greatly missed and leave a big gap, both in the SLT world and as HSCP lead.

I first came to know Maeve through the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists, many years ago - she was truly tireless in her efforts on behalf of the profession. I’ll remember her gentle voice, genuine interest in others & her love of her family, which always shone through.

Very saddened to hear of Maeve's untimely passing. Maeve was my first SLT manager and a wonderful role model for professionalism and provision of quality care in our department. I was hoping to be at the service today but am sadly unable so am watching from home. I have many happy memories of Maeve as a colleague and on a personal level, from my years at TUH. Those who worked with Maeve knew her strength and her professional worth-she was dedicated to her work but under the professional exterior, she had the kindest heart and was always ready with a smile and a positive word to those in need. It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Maeve and send our condolences to Mary, Brian, and extended Murphy family.
Maeve was first Senior SLT before stepping into the role of SLT Manager in 2003 to 2016. She was integral to making the SLT department what it is today. Not only was she a supportive and encouraging boss but she was a dear friend to so many of us past and present. And above all else she was a force to be reckoned with.
