I was so sad to hear about Mrs. Somers’ passing. She was such a kindhearted lady, always warm and attentive, and she had a way of making you feel good just by being around her.
What I’ll always remember is how she made time not only for her own children and grandchildren, but also for their friends and cousins too, treating them as if they were her own.
Our two children loved going to her house with their cousins, Sinead and David and she was always so delighted to welcome them, especially for the Friday night sleepovers, that she and they all looked forward to so much. Those are such special memories, and they show just how much love and joy Mrs Somers’ gave to everyone around her. Nothing was any bother for her.
I know she will be greatly missed by all her family and all of us who had the privilege to know and love her gentleness and grace.
Rest well, Mrs Somers. May your eternal soul be in everlasting peace💜

One of my fondest memories of Mrs Somers stretches back decades ago when my sister Una & I accidentally pulled down the curtains in her home. In response she gave us both a warm gentle smile.

I have always been in awe of the grace and dignity my Nanny carried herself through this world with. She lead with a kind heart and stead fast faith. I have always strived to emulate the empathy and compassion she shows to everyone in her path. She is my hero in this world and I will miss our chats on Westfield road... Endless cups of tea and biscuits.
When I think of my darling Mother-In-Law these are the words that come to mind: Values such as independence, courage, generosity, sensitivity, kindness, integrity, dignity, whimsy, and indeed the word ‘life’ itself – for few people I have ever known, lived life as well as she did.
Maeve faced life’s challenges with humor, and grace, always looking for the silver lining. Nothing a cup of tea and a good laugh couldn’t solve. I will miss her and keep her in my heart.

Christmas morning, attack the presents, change into the fancy clothes, two buses across town to Westfield Road and the annual McGowan Family Clan Christmas lunch. Love & laughter with the family. Queen "Maeve" was graceful, kind, caring, emphatic, great sense of humor and always one with a genuine smile (those eyes, stunning) Forever grateful to have had you in my life. The Boyers visits over the years, vivid recall from my past. The fondest memories evolved around sitting with Maeve and her siblings recollecting their Fairview up bringing. There is a sadness today, however the spirit of the departed remains strong in the hearts of those that remain, thank you Aunty Maeve, together with Nana Maeve & Papa Thomas , Buddy , Fergus , Joan , Aideen, Enda & the additional 21 Annesley Bridge Road collective , that makes me smile , may the good lord shine a light on you and yours during this , their hour of need .
To all the Somers family, our deepest condolences to all of you at this sad time.Your mam and my precious Auntie was an amazing woman whom I will always cherish in my heart, thank you Auntie Maeve for the mentoring, R.I.P.

My dear Aunty Maeve. I guess your little sister, my Mam, needed you with her.
Thank you for so many happy memories. I used to love staying with you when I was a kid, lots of cosy meals in your kitchen where there was always a salad to be had, and always tales of when the McGowan clan were growing up which I never tired of hearing for as long as you were able to tell them.
To Barry, David , Jean and Maeve, your Mam was a strong, kind and proud and elegant lady, her love and pride for you all shone through and I know you will miss her immeasurably, but please take comfort from knowing how you all looked after her so well when she needed you.
Rest in peace Aunty Maeve, mam will have the kettle on no doubt, you have lots to catch up on x

We have such lovely memories of your beloved mother and grandmother Maeve. Memories of her arriving in Old Orchard to cook dinner on a Friday evening and to take her grandchildren for a sleepover. Ruth was lucky to be included as an extra grandchild and we all called her Granny Maeve. We enjoyed her company at many parties and looked forward to her party piece. She told us great stories of her life. Her place in Heaven is guaranteed. May she rest in peace. Condolences to you all x
