Máire Burns

My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Máire Burns on your sad loss. I fondly remember her as a kind, gentle and gracious maths and history teacher from my days in the Loreto. She also prepared us for external school debates, which were a lot of fun. Thank you, Miss Burns.

My deepest sympathies on hearing the sad passing of Miss Burns. I have very fond memories of our French Classes filled with special verses to help us remember our French in latter years my Dad (R.I.P) would bump into her at mass and she would always ask how we were getting on. She was a simply outstanding human being inside and out.

She had a wonderful sense of fun with more than a little mischief... She made learning fun, rhythmic dances for French verbs and explaining maths terms... She was kind, mannerly and fair. She had a smile and a kind word for everyone she passed in the halls. We were very lucky girls to have her in our lives for the 5 years in secondary... Rest in peace

Inion Ni Bhroin taught me in the late 60s in Loreto. She opened up our young minds in what was a very tight and restricted era. She would brought newspapers to class, lent us books and magazines and broadened our horizons in many ways. She led debating teams and brought discussed world affairs and politics with us. She was an educator in the truest sense of the word. A wonderful lady.
