Colm I have just had the most awful shock. I have been calling Maire's number and leaving WhatsApp messages for the past week. I live abroad and I spoke with Maire about a month ago and as usual we sorted all the world problems. I was trying to get in touch with you Colm when I came across her death notice.
I am sorry about this long message but I am absolutely devastated with this news.
I met Maire when friends of the elderly were looking for volunteers many years ago and I have to say that she was a most wonderful, generous, loving and caring person. She was also a true and loyal friend and we had great laughs. I will miss her in my life and am so sorry for your loss Colm.

I worked with her in Friends of the Elderly over 30 years ago. She was an immense influence on me and supported and guided me unstintingly.

She remained a kind generous and loyal friend over all the years. I will miss seeing her on my too infrequent visits to Galway.

Márie has gone but she left us the beautiful gift of herself in passing.

Dear Colm, I was shocked and saddened to hear of Máire's sudden death. I knew Máire for many many years, we did elocution together with the late Dolores Kelly. My mother Peggy Francis (Woodquay) and your mother Mattie (Evans) as we fondly knew her, were great friends.I have wonderful memories of those days. I will miss meeting Máire and having our chats. I met her through the late Mairéad Corless and often stopped for a chat on University Road or at the Saturday Market.
