Máirín Higgins

We are so sorry to hear of Mairin’s passing, and so very glad that we had the opportunity to meet her at the recent family reunion. Sending love from America.

My deepest sympathy to all the Higgins and extended O'Donnell families. My earliest childhood memory of Máirín is when she brought 'Muffin' her cat back to visit us when holidaying in Drunnagh. She was wearing her fur coat matching 'Muffins' fur coat. Her laugh was so infectious. May she Rest in Peace.

Just visited with you on Oct 1st after the Higgins re-union. Little did I know it would be the last visit. You started all the research on the Higgins family tree and shared it with me to make that reunion happen. Thanks for all that information. Deepest Condolences to Mairin’s family. Mairin was consistently there for Irish Republican Prisoners and will be remembered with respect and love for her strength and determination in unyielding support for those republican prisoners imprisoned in England.

Marin was a great friend of Republican POWs and their families. She will be remembered for her committed support and many acts of kindness.

To my one & only Aunty Mairin, a true character who I will never forget. A fantastic dry sense of humour, a real way with words and a willingness to help whenever we needed it. Thank you for all that you did for us Maur, your memory lives on ❤️

She was so generous in time and spirit on all our visits to Kilmeena.
Her ability to convey stories of the Irish diaspora in England and her own holiday memories in Kilmeena as a child were so vivid and real
She accompanied us on a day trip to the clapper bridge and Accony and related numerous anecdotes
A gifted storyteller and an extremely wicked sense of humour

Deepest sympathy to the Higgins family on the loss of Máirín. She fought tirelessly for the repatriation of republican prisoners in jails in England during a time of conflict and her kindness and humanity will never be forgotten by them and their families.

You were a great aunty, I'll always remember our cousins weeks at Easter and the million chocolate eggs you hid for us. Such great memories. You were such a big part of our family and you will be so missed. I'm sure you're reunited with your many cats up there. Rest in peace.
