My deepest condolences to Madeline and all of Máirtín's family and friends. I only knew Máirtín for a few years when he came to Ballinamore but he was a great support to us in Scouts, he helped out every week and on scout camp and was a font of knowledge, he also entertained us with tunes and songs around the camp fire. May he rest in peace.

We are saddened to hear of Máirtín's death. He was a force of nature, whose indomitable spirit and irrepressible optimism were inspirational. He was blessed with the most admirable of human qualities that endeared him to a host of admirers. He will be sadly and widely mourned and missed. We extend our sincere sympathy to Madeline and to all Máirtín's family and friends on their sad loss. May his memory be a blessing to them. Suaimhneas na bhFlaitheas d'a anam uasal. Go raibh leaba aige i measc na Naomh.
So very sad to hear of Máirtín’s passing, sincere condolences to Madeline, and all the Dempsey and Murray family. Although it had been a while since we met, the last time in Donaghmede when was with GaelColaiste Reachrann, we had a long and wonderful friendship. We first met when we were members of the Kilbarrack/Foxfield Church Folk Club. We both played and sang, and shared many songs and fun together during those years. Knowing him before and after his bad accident, we kept in touch and I used to take him for walks when he was still wheelchair bound. He made a remarkable recovery where another would not and it was a testament to his character and determination. Later he would visit the Howth Singing Circle regularly and we all loved his singing, playing and choice of songs. I was glad to be able to attend the funeral online, and glad to hear music and wonderful singing to celebrate Máirtín’s life. He was very loved, and will never be forgotten. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
My sympathy to Madeline,Eithne and all the ODiomasaigh family on the passing of Mairtin. I only knew Mairtin for just over a year Despite his illness he was always a pleasure to care for and had the pleasure of him singing a song and playing a tune for me.May his gentle soul rest in peace. Joan Gallagher carer HSE.
Sending our deepest of sympathys to all the family and may he R.I.P. From the Hackett family Australia
Comhbhrón ó chroí le teaghlach Mháirtín. Fear uasal a bhí ann a léirigh cineáltas lena chuid daltaí uilig. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam.
Very sorry to hear of the passing of Máirtín ,Deepest sympathies to Madeline and all his family.
May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
Deeply saddened to hear of Máirtín's passing. So many fond memories in Paris, Howth and Lovely Leitrim. My first memory is the long sweeping ponytail, cheeky grin and infectious charm. He wooed everyone in the Irish Bar in Paris with his musical talent, especially his rendition of "Carrickfergus"....There wasn't a dry eye in the pub....to which his sharp wit responded "Jaysus, you better all get a Ryanair home to Ireland soon.." Who else would carry 2 heavy jars of pebbles and sand from a beach in Howth over on a plane to offer as a 40th birthday present...Must have cost extra as hand luggage...but their significance to someone he cared about meant more than the cost or inconvenience. My last memory is Mohill, Leitrim when Máirtín visited after I returned from Paris with my troubled teenage son. 20 years later, but the same extravagant generosity prevailed. The many phone calls to check up on how my son was doing, offering advice and support, will never be forgotten....like the time my son brought him up to the bathroom to fix the leak in the shower, and Máirtín handed him the tools and showed him how to do it! From the many comments posted, Máirtín's deep sense of the true meaning of life has marked us all. He strove to help others find peace in their lives. Sleep peacefully now my dear friend. My sincere condolences to his family and partner. He will be missed by us all.
Comhbhrón ó chroí le clann Máirtín. Ba mhúinteoir den céad scoth agus fear uasal é.
Pribhléid a bhí ann é a bheith mar múinteoir againn.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Deepest condolences to the O’Diomasaigh family and Madeline on the passing of her partner Mairtin. May he rest in peace.
Our group will sorely miss Mairtin. We took him to our hearts from the evening he first joined the Ballinamore Men’s Shed. His very affable personality, his musical and singing talents, his camaraderie with us all, his natural woodworking skills, his forward thinking, his leadership qualities endeared Mairtin to every one of us. Despite his recurring illness he made supreme efforts to entertain us, whether it was with reels, jigs and hornpipes, as he joined in the traditional sessions or outdoing Elvis ,Don Williams or Bob Dylan with his easy going singing style. As well as that, there was never any spoofing with Mairtin, what you saw was what you got. His great loves were his partner Madeline, his brother and sisters and his pupils who were so fortunate to have had him as their teacher .
We extend our sincere sympathy to Madeline, to the O’Diomasaigh family and to his legion of sincere friends. Suaimhneas siorai duit, Mairtin, ar g-cara uasal, dilis.

I'm very sorry to hear of the death of Máirtín - we grew up on the same road - Kilbarrack Avenue - home to over one hundred children born in the fifties and sixties. His poem Cill Barróg is a beautiful portrayal of the freedom we had as children to roam the farms and the fields nearby. I remember Máirtín as a person who was always busy, always helping his mother Fran to find access to her bungalow just a little bit easier. May he rest in peace now x
