Austin and Nigel, I was pleased to learn you were both at your father’s bedside on his last journey. I was able to see the funeral service at St Mary’s Church, Claddagh at midnight on 13 December, which I much appreciated.
After your mother Bernadette’s early death you were Malachy’s pride and joy. He wanted the very best for you and was so proud of your sporting achievements in both football and rowing, which he actively supported.
May he rest in peace beside your mother among the many roses he had planted within Forthill Cemetery, overlooking Galway Bay.
Although far away in New Zealand our thoughts and prayers are always with you.
