Dear McCabe Family,

On behalf of St Mary’s Past Pupils’ Union, we extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Malcolm (Class of 1990). Our thoughts are especially with his wife Catriona, his children Charlie and Eppie, his father Peter, his brothers Odhran and Kevin, his mother-in-law Mary, and the wider family at this very difficult time.

I knew Malcolm since our college days in Waterford and always stayed in touch over the years. I will remember the many stories, his razor sharp wit and sense of humour. The Cork - Dublin banter never got old. He was a great man (for a Dub). Fly well Malcolm, old friend.

Throughout our years working with Malcolm on multiple projects he was always a gentleman, intelligent and helpful with a delighful sense of humour, even when faced with the bad news of his illness. He will be sorely missed by all of us at BHA and the construction industry in general.

I'm so so sorry for your loss. I knew Malcolm from school when we were one of only a fews boys who got the 44 bus home. We spent many an evening underage drinking in the Blue Light! He was always a person of principle and integrity and loyalty. We were in touch again in the past few months which I am so grateful for. RIP Malcolm.

I was very saddened to hear of Malcolm’s passing. I first met him many years ago in CIF Headquarters, where he taught my first “Managing Safety in Construction” course. My father also knew his father, and there was always a lovely connection in our conversations.

Later, when he was with Manor Park, I met him often, and he was always so friendly, approachable, and encouraging. I learned a great deal from him as a young man, and I will always remember his kindness and generosity of spirit.

My heartfelt sympathies to Catriona, Charlie, Eppie, and to all of Malcolm’s family and friends.

I worked with "Mal" when he first started in Cork, I knew him immediately to be a salt of the earth character, We had great times at work and play, he was a master of both.His sharp wit and smooth banter endeared him to all who met him, I was proud to call him my friend.
Sorry that I could not attend either service but I will tune in tomorrow morning to wish him good bye.
