We were saddened to hear that Mal, our good friend and neighbour in Ballyfa for many years diedR.I.P.
We extend our deepest sympathy to Breege,to Mal’s family and to the Leslie family.
During my time as secretary of Grange cemetery committee I asked Mal if he would help us to do the digital mapping of Grange.
He graciously offered his skill and expertise and spent two years working on this project.
We attended many meetings organised by Heritage section of Galway County council
His summer of 2008 was spent recording by hand the inscriptions on the headstones,the type of stone and the dimensions of the monuments.
The following winter he typed all this work into the spreadsheets and uploaded all the photographs on to the Galway County Council website.
On behalf of Grange cemetery committee and the community whose family graves are there we thank you Mal for your great community spirit, and yourlasting legacy to Grange cemetery
We will remember and pray for you.
