Deepest and sincerest sympathies to Eoin, Donald. Darach, Cathryn, Brian, Niamh, Lonan, Frank, Niall and Ross;and the entire McDonald and Bowen families on the sad death of a true icon.
Ann and I had the good fortune to meet Mamo and the late Eugene in Clones in 1976, when I purchased my wedding suit from Eugene the father, and we subsequently met her on various occasions thereafter.
She was a truly remarkable lady, a good humoured, .no nonsense woman who displayed a steely resolve in relation to women's rights. I remember her saying how hugely proud she was of her two strong daughters and welcomed strong women as daughters in law too.
Mamo will leave a huge void in all of your lives. I am sure she rests in peace now with Eugene and Vincent but God help any patronising males with delusions of dominance if she meets them.

So sad to hear that Mamo has died. I met her in All Hallow's in 2005 when we did a course together.
She was simply wonderful.
Such a loss to her family, her friends, her community and all the women of Ireland.

I was so sad to hear about Mamo’s passing. She was a very special and exceptional lady. I have many fond memories of her and in particular of her making honey sandwiches for me in the kitchen over the shop when I was a small boy. Her kindness and gentleness will be my abiding memory of her. I’m sure you all have many many happy memories in which you will find comfort. May she rest in peace.
