Marc Foley (Ó Foghlú)

Deepest condolences to all the family and friends on the loss of their beloved Marc. He was one of my first best friends in life and it was a pleasure to have known him. RIP Marc.

I was very saddened to hear the passing of Marc recently. A friend of mine sent the rip address onto me and I was taken aback because I had only recently been thinking of him. I didn't know Marc all that well to be honest, mostly we knew each other through politics where we weren't eye to eye. I always found Marc honest and engaging, never sectarian in his political leanings from what I could see. He was cordial and friendly, always a smile and a hello.

Rest in peace Marc.

I was in disbelief to hear of Marc's incredibly sad passing. My condolences to Alma, James and all those who were close to him at this unbelievably difficult and sad time.

I got to know Marc through Labour Youth many years ago. Many gravitated to Marc to share a laugh with him. He was incredibly intelligent and had a strong political compass and I always took great regard of his views and position to know the right direction on issues.

He will be missed by all those who knew him, in all the spaces he shared with others. Thinking of his family at this time.

I wish to extend my deepest condolences to Marc's family, his partner, his friends & colleagues my deepest condolences. Marc was always a very warm, funny, lovely person whenever we spoke (usually about Doctor Who) in our time in UCC. He'll be sadly missed by so many who knew him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam

Marc is one of the best people I have ever known and probably will know. He made me laugh more times than I could count, held my hand when I cried as often as I needed and any time we spoke he made my day better.

We bonded over a love of the Irish language, Cork city, music festivals and, of course, a few cans. He introduced me to Doctor Who, and probably equally important to him, the Northside. Most recently we bonded over making our homes our own, telling eachother about our various trips abroad and our much, much loved cats and dogs. The breadth of things that Marc was passionate about knew no bounds and made him all the more loveable.

My heart is broken for Alma, Marc's nana and the rest of his adoring family. They have shown such strength taking care of eachother and Marc's close friends since we lost him. It was one of the greatest honours of my life to sing for him, his family and those who came to wish his farewell.

I knew Marc at UCC, where he was kindest, gentlest and loveliest soul in every room. It was an honour to know him. Go raibh suaimhneas sioraí air.

The huge number of people who have paid their respects to Marc shows his great capacity for love. He drew so many good people to him by being so wonderful himself. We were very privileged to have known him and I am so sorry for his family. Suaimhneas síoraí mo chara buan.

My heartfelt sympathies to Marc's family, James and friends. Marc came to Wexford a number of years back to canvas for me as a candidate in the local elections. Marc came up by our house and immediately impressed us as a sincere and genuine young man.
I met him occasionally since and most recently at the Labour National Conference. i will miss Marc's enthusiasm, belief and energy. I am at a loss and we are all lesser for his passing.

I was so fortunate to meet Marc as a student activist in Labour Youth more than a decade ago. It was always a delight to spend time with him. I have so many fond memories of talking nonsense and laughing hysterically with him. I hope many others share this and take some comfort in those memories.
