Marcus (Marc) Costello

I was so sad to hear that Marc had passed away. I, like others have lots of fun memories from our teenage years… clearly from these wonderful tributes, he had a full and meaningful life. My sincere condolences to you all.

To Marcus’ family:
I was so very sorry to get the news about Marcus. May I pass on my deepest sympathy and condolences to you all.
I had the great pleasure of working with Marcus on a show I had created called Visitant on which Marcus was the lighting designer- he travelled with us to Paris and then was round for the whole run in the Project. We got to know Marcus quite well and loved his dry wit but also the amazing lx design he provided for my friend and Co artist Alice Maher’s set design. He helped make such a beautiful and memorable experience for the audience. With love and best wishes Trevor Knight

We won’t see the like of Marcus again. I have so many fond memories of working with him through the years. He was a gentle giant and one of the good ones. My sincere condolences to all of his family. He will be sorely missed.

Sincerest Condolences to Patri and all Marcus' family especially his Mum and children. I have hugely fond memories of working with Marcus from Drogheda Arts Festival to Fringe and Bram Stoker. To his arts community family I also extend my sincerest Condolences I will keep him and you all in my prayers today and in the coming days.

Our sincere condolences to Patricia, Molly, Manu, Leo & Naja on the loss of Marcus from all members of Dublin Castle Events Team past and present. We had the pleasure of working with him in Dublin Castle on many occasions and he was at all times an ultimate gentleman. God bless him and may he rest in peace.

It's very difficult to put into words the impact Marcus has had on the Irish theatre industry. He fostered countless Theatre-makers' development both in front of and behind the scenes. A true gentleman, friend and mentor to many of us.

Our condolences also to his wonderful wife, his four beautiful and treasured children, his beloved sisters and brother, his dear nieces and nephews, and too his lifelong friends who will all miss him dearly and remember him with great fondness. When Marcus was first introduced to our families, while still a youngster in TCD, we never thought that he would become so entrenched in our family in its entirety, becoming a larger than life character in Clara, London & Dublin. Marcus will never be forgotten by the Kelly & the Henry families, we have so many captivating stories to tell the next generation about a truly interesting, colourful, and authentic friend, whose departure from this world will leave a great void in our hearts. “Rest in peace dear Marcus”. Very saddened to hear of Marc’s passing. I have so many great memories of decades of laughter and fun with him. He was such a generous spirit, a one-off, and I always came away from our get-togethers a with a spring in my step. Although our paths went different ways in the last years, I always thought that we were on pause, and there would be many more chats and smokes together in the years to come. I’d like to think of Marc being out there somewhere, tuning up, getting ready for our next jam. Later!

It was an absolute honour. We had some good laughs and moved too many stage decks for our backs to tolerate. You were a true friend and a colleague.
