Sincere sympathies to Seamus, Dessie & extended Cawley family on the very sad passing of Marcus. Fond memories of getting to know Marcus when I arrived in Cashel many years ago. Always the gentleman, and had such a wonderful knowledge of music - I loved his shows on Tipp Mid West radio. It was great meeting him in later years at O'Neills, Ladyswell. May your gentle soul rest in peace Marcus.

Many a great game of Handball involving Marcus was played down at the three-wall alley beside the courthouse and on occasion the alley being lit up by the headlights of a car to enable the game to be finished and usually with Marcus being victorious.
There are many great stories associated with Marcus but one that showed his quick wit stood out for me. Marcus had been mixing cement for houses being built on the old road. A very stormy night caused some of the walls to fall. The builders sought to blame Marcus saying he had not mixed the cement properly ..... Marcus directed the builders, pointing across to the Rock Of Cashel, and said, built a thousand years ago with no cement and still standing.

Always enjoyed meeting Mark, a great conversationalist, a lover of music and books. He was one of the auld stock. He cherished his town and Treacy Villas and despite his physical disability Mark ventured out at every opportunity. Sympathy to family and close friends. He is at rest.
