Maree was a wonderful Drama teacher in Scoil Mhuire for many years. The children just loved her! From the weekly classes to end of year productions and 6th class performances, she inspired the children in so many ways.
Thank you, Maree, for all you did for the pupils and for the friendship with the staff too.

We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Maree's sudden passing. Maree was part of our lives for such a long time. She was a wonderful Drama teacher and built such confidence in her students. Her sense of fun was legendary and inspiring. Thank you for all you did for our family.

Maree and latterly Simon, gave us the opportunity to engage with friends, have fun while learning important life skills and understand the importance of a pause. I have many fond memories of Ms Jewell’s speech and drama classes – they were such a joyful, fun part of my childhood and that of so many others. Her classes were always filled with laughter, fun, and encouragement. The improv sessions and end-of-term parties were particularly memorable. Ms Jewell had a wonderful gift for making everyone feel welcome and confident, and she was so loved by all her pupils.
May she rest in peace.

My deepest sympathies to you all. Many a Saturday morning was spent sitting in Mrs Jewell’s class in Ballyroan, hoping we would do improvisations rather than say my poem ! I have such wonderful, fun memories of my time in those classes, may she rest in peace.

My deepest sympathies to Brendan, Simon, Lisa, Aaron and Adam, and to Kevina, on Maree's passing. I can't quite believe it. I had the pleasure of having Maree as my drama mentor from the age of 13 to 20. We had a special gang that had the Wednesday afternoon slot in Ballyroan - my sister Claire, Dee, Eoin, Katie, Orla, Paul and Pam. And the absolute giggles we had with her as the gang leader! She created a wonderful space and nurtured all of us, individually and as a collective. That was the stuff of dreams. Because of Maree I developed a love for Shakespeare and all types of poetry and prose, which I lean on to this day. I treasure those memories and will always remember her marvellous warmth and mischievous chuckle. She was so much more than a drama teacher.

Our sincere sympathy to Maree’s family. We were so very sad to hear of her sudden passing. All 4 of our children attended Maree’s speech and drama classes for many years. We have very fond memories of Maree. She was a warm inspirational teacher who built confidence and always made it fun too! The showcase at the end of each year was such an enjoyable experience for all.

I was very lucky to attend Maree’s drama classes from age 5 up to late teens, she was a wonderful teacher and I still remember the fun and laughs we had in our classes in Ballyroan over the years! She was always there for every feis and exam and cared for all of her students so well, and always with a smile and a laugh. May she rest in peace and live on in your hearts xx

What very sad news. Maree was a wonderful speech/drama teacher and a lovely person. I will be forever grateful for the interest she took in me and the time she invested in me. I have often thought of her over the years and will remember her fondly.

I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs Jewell. I had the privilege of attending her speech and drama classes for many years, and under her expert guidance, I went on to obtain my diploma in Speech and Drama from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. That qualification became an invaluable asset—allowing me to teach speech and drama to support myself through university. She made a lasting impact and I will always remain indebted to her. May she Rest in Peace.

Mrs. Jewell produced my end of year play in primary school a few years ago. She was such an amazing director and always wanted the best for all of her students,I will never forget her and the memories she created for us ❤️

Though the room is now a cafe, I regularly reminisce about the good old days at speech & drama class, sitting patiently for our turn. From poetry to solo drama's, mime and improvisation, grades & feis's. What fun times we had there in the 90's & noughties with the most wonderful teacher. Thank you for everything Mrs. Jewells. We were saddened to read of sudden passing of Maree sending our sincere condolences to Brendan and all family on your sad loss. We went to speech and drama class every Wednesday afternoon for 10 years to Ballyroan . Boys have great memories of class with Miss Jewell where she taught them the best skills and now as adults those skills stand the test of time. Rest gently beautiful Maree.

On our first day at the allotment, we had great plans to work. Instead, we met Maree ... and ended up only chatting!!!
Left with a few bulbs and seeds, lots of good advice but most of all happy and looking forward to spend time up there surrounded by nice, joyful people! We'll really miss our neighbour. Condolences to all the family.

I was very sorry to hear the sad news of Maree.
Ironically it was on the anniversary of my own Mother, whom they both met several times over the years.
It was a pleasure playing all the musicals with Maree, having the chats in the staff room and most importantly the laughs in the yellow house for over 30 years.
Wellt keep her memories alive and most importantly, I hope all the family look after her pride and joy of her vegetable plot going.

Dear Brendan, Adam, Lisa, Aaron, Simon , Kevina & all the extended family,

Sometimes in life, you meet people who you immediately click with, myself and Maree got on straight away. Mick also always so fond of her. She had such a wonderful sense of humour so was easy company. The added bonus was she could take a slagging and better still, always gave as good as she got.

I have such fond memories of our annual Eurovision soirées. We had lots of great times together over the years. She will be a huge loss to you all and to her best friend and sister Kevina.

We are just grateful to have had her in our lives and the greatest privilege to have called her our friend.

May she rest peacefully.
