We all have fond memories of Marian Row and being in and out of Devines, usually by the back road and back door. Mrs Devine was always there, kind and friendly and we seemed to be always welcome. She was a dear friend of my mother. After we left Castlebar a cheery letter arrived every Christmas, in beautiful handwriting, which Mam cherished and we all read and enjoyed. In recent years they talked on their mobile phones and when it got difficult for my mother to hear she'd ask one of us to ring for her. One of their last contacts, I think, was exchanging 90th Birthday cards earlier this year.
Thinking of you Una, Catherine, Eibhlin, Dympna and Mairead.
May your dear Mam rest in peace.

Margaret was a good neighbour and my dear friend for over sixty years from when we came to Marian Row. My sympathy to Una, Catherine, Eibhlin, Dympna and Mairead.

With fond memories of the many happy hours and summers we spent in Smerwick together. Our long chats with Mairead and James in the garden on the long wooden stool. Followed by walks and swims on the beach next to Canon McClean's when the tide was out. For a snack we would pick the dillisk off the rocks.

I have two abiding memories of Margaret (Mairead), one of her waltzing with James in the kitchen in Ard na Caithne and the second of her giving me the most beautiful yellow carnations on my 16th birthday, she said that as a child that she would forego sweets in favour of flowers, she had such a love for them - a strong and unique woman, Rest In Peace, Seosaimhin O'Halloran and Clodagh Trevaskis

We were saddened to hear of Margaret's death. She was a very close friend of our late mother, and we have very fond memories of her visits to Rathbawn. She enriched our lives, in particular by her positive attitude to everything - an inspiration to all of us. She had such a warm welcome for us any time we visited Castlebar and on her summer visits to Ard na Caithne with our beloved uncle Séamus.
