Dearest Margaret, I can’t believe you’re not here anymore. You were like a second mother for me growing up; delighting in all the funny mischief, celebrating all the successes, and cursing our enemies! You always had my back and you defended me down to the ground!

You were always so interested in everything I did, and I loved our chats about Africa, politics, Swedish design and, most of all, what it takes to start a life in a different country and culture. Thanks for all the wisdom, sharp advice and hilariously funny stories about how it was for you striking out on your own and moving to Ireland all those years ago. I still hear your chuckle and feel like you’re still here. But I guess that’s how it is when someone with such a presence and who so loved by so many leaves this earth.

To our family next door, Denis, Michael, Aisling, Dan, Kieron and my dearest, dearest Meagan, I’m so terribly sorry for your monumental loss. Sending all my love,

We first met Mag in Castlecomer in the late 70s when she made contact with my Mother Millie, who was related through the Stone family. Mag had relatives home from Australia and she was going to bring them to visit. From there over the years we met so many relations from Australia, some who we are still in contact with today.
She made her last visit to Castlecomer in May this year, again to introduce us to another relative.

Michael, I’m just so sorry for the loss of your dear Mum. I want to offer my condolences to you and your family. When I first visited Tivoli I remember being enthralled by the joyful colourful paintings around the house. Then I met your Mum and she was the embodiment of that colour.

I'm sitting here in Brisbane with tears pouring down my face at the thought of losing my Aunty Megsiegoogoo and all I can hear is her saying c'mon Joompsie you great feck, it's not that bad...what a soul she was and is. All our love to our Irish cousins, and their families and to dear Uncle Denis.
