Margaret was a wonderful woman, brilliant, dynamic, energetic, a super leader and beloved colleague. What a legacy she has left for the women of Ireland with her service to midwifery and nursing.

My deepest sympathy to Robby and Margaret’s extended family. It was with great sadness I heard of Margaret’s passing. I trained as a nurse with her in Royal City of Dublin Hospital and after years of loosing touch was fortunate to work with her aging on the hospital trust. Margaret was a wonderful caring person and it was a privilege to have known her.

Sending my sincere condolences to Robbie and Margaret’s family & friends. It was with great sadness I heard of Margaret’s untimely passing. I had the pleasure of working with Margaret since joining the Rotunda in 1996. Margaret was always a shinning light for compassion & kindness and always made time in her busy schedule to lend a listening ear to anyone who needed her assistance or guidance. She was a lady. She will be sadly missed by all but remembered with great fondness lots of happy memories of shared times.

Margaret was such a great manager to all her maternity care
assistants but more then that she was vibrant, fun,professional & approachable to us & all she met . Her smile was beautiful & lit up her eyes. Margaret cared about all staff wholeheartedly and the patients were her priority . She was some woman for one woman. She will be remembered so fondly by all who knew her. Margaret and I started in the Rotunda the same day to train as midwives. She was a lady and a pleasure to know. May Margaret rest in peace.

Margaret and I started our midwifery journey on the same day as students and Margaret never changed throughout that journey.

To Robbie and the Earle Family, my sincerest sympathy to you on Margaret’s sad passing. I had the pleasure of working with Margaret in all my years in the Hospital and she was such a ray of sunshine.She was kind and considerate at all times and that lovely smile and twinkle in her eyes made you feel comfortable in all situations. Interacting with her was always a pleasure and an enjoyable experience and you loved to meet her on the corridors of the Hospital as there was always a cheerful greeting. I often think of Margaret when I meet a new rescue dog. She put her heart and soul into the hospital and all with such a cheerful approach. May she rest in peace.
Dear Robby, I was so sad to hear of Margaret's passing. She was an exceptional woman and midwife. She made such a contribution to the Rotunda, particularly in her support of the Perinatal Mental Health Service. Her door was always open. After she retired, she continued to support the women and babies of the Rotunda through the Board of the Rotunda Foundation where her in depth knowledge and understanding were put to good use. I would like to express my condolences to you and all the Philbin and Earle families.

It is with sadness that we learned of the passing of Margaret. On behalf of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues.

As a midwife, Margaret dedicated her life to the care of women and families, embodying the very values at the heart of our profession. Even in retirement, she continued to share her wisdom and expertise, making a valuable contribution to the work of NMBI. Her commitment, compassion, and insight have left an enduring mark on the profession and on all who had the privilege of working alongside her.

We commuted together to Dublin from Dromod on the train for a few years and she was a pleasure to know.
A few of us often ended back at her house in the morning for tea if the train got delayed.
