Sincere sympathy to all the Dempsey Family on the loss of this great lady. She was a friend to me and we shared memories of Kilkee and everything of the West Clare countryside. I loved meeting her and our chat kept us quite a while but it was always a great joy and time meant nothing when in the company of Marguerite. I miss her. Go deana Dia trochaire ar a hanam dilis.

My deepest condolences go to the Dempsey family and all of Marguerite's children and grandchildren. Marguerite was my neighbor across the road. Prior to moving to America in 2006, Marguerite would give me a lift to St. Mary’s primary school every day. I remember those times fondly as every single day after school, without missing a beat, she would take me to the shop for sweets. Marguerite was such a lovely person, not only was she generous but Marguerite also knew how to keep a secret. She would never ever make a comment or say a word to my Mam even when I wasn’t in proper school uniform (a big deal in 5th class)! Her kindness, sense of humor, and personality will truly be missed. I am very lucky to have known Marguerite.

While she was never my teacher, when Mrs Dempsey visited our classroom, it usually meant you got to have a quiet chat to your friend in the seat beside you! I spent the occasional day in her classroom when our teacher was ill, and I remember her being a real character. I've no doubt she touched many a heart during her time in the Mercy Convent. Having lost my own mum in recent years, my thoughts are with Síofra and family during this difficult time. RIP x

I was lucky enough to have Mrs Dempsey as my teacher in both 3rd and 6th class and while it was nearly 25 years ago, I still have the fondest memories of how fun and clever she was.
