We were privileged to tell Mari’s story in this documentary some years ago, including filming a reunion with her own mother. Mari was generous, articulate, funny and angry in all the right measures. A great soul, who not only found herself, but helped others to do the same. RIP and much love to her family.

Mari's loss is a huge heartfelt loss in our minute community.
She was a mighty, honourable woman who had such dedication, integrity, knowledge, and a thirst for truth and justice.
Her commitment to her community was resolute, as was her love for her precious family.

She touched my life when she assisted me, and for that I owe her. I was lucky enough to have had Mari take the time to answer my queries and occasionally help me over the years when I needed to reach out for her expertise. She was an oracle in adoption related issues and her willingness to share her knowledge helped so, so many who were failed again in adulthood, by the Church and State. When so many doors were closed to us, Mari graciously opened hers.
Over many years Mari actively and practically assisted us in our long, arduous and desperate search. A search for answers, for truth, for clarity, for representation, for acknowledgement, for reparation, for our rights, for justice...
for ourselves.

We owe Mari.
We owe her memory.
Ireland owes Mari.

Thank you for your advocacy, integrity and your legacy Mari, for your hands on help, for your direct dedicated service to us, for prioritising us, for representing us; your fellow bastards and cribmates. Your community.
We welcome you home with the respect, gratitude and love you deserve Mari, and wish that you rest easy with Josie xXx

Mari’s kindness, strength, sense of justice, her insight, wit, and tenaciousness, her bravery and resilience all ran deep. An absolute legend, she contributed greatly to enhancing the lives of so many people who had been wronged by unjust and archaic practices and policies in Ireland, the UK and the US, and by challenging those oppressive systems. Mari displayed courage that inspired many; never giving up; never silent when it mattered; spoke of incarceration, separation from mum; vaccine trials in homes which was largely dismissed in the Commissions Report. Her legacy will endure long after those who hold power are gone. An immense loss, Mari’s activism a guiding light that will not fade.
