So sorry to hear about ria I only met her once with my dad John thewlis and my grandad senior John thewlis rias brother. I’m John thewlis youngest daughter abigail. I met ria in 2016 for the 1916 rising reunion of family. Such a lovely soul may she rest in peace

To all the Byrne family, I'm so very sorry for your loss. Ria was such a lovely lady, a great friend and neighbour, and I'll always remember her warmth, generosity and mischievous sense of humour. Hopefully it's some comfort that she's now reunited with Pa. I'll think of them both fondly whenever I find myself being force-fed tea and swiss roll. Sincerest sympathies.

Dearest Mumso you didn’t want Dad to celebrate another birthday alone in heaven so you decided to join him for celebrations today.
My heart is cracked open with pure love for you. Everything I am today and do today is because of you and Pops. From carrying my cello in a black plastic bag on the 46a from my first cello lesson, to buying me my first hockey stick, ballet pumps, and manuscript, to refusing to cook for me when I turned vegetarian saying I had to learn how to cook myself, to making her heavenly cream puffs for DYO Orchestra on Sundays, to mouthing loudly from the back of Feis Ceoil cello competitions “PROOOOO-JECT PROOOOOO-JECT”, to making me practise practise practise, to showing me the value of money and how to never ever depend on a man to support me financially but to always stand on my own feet, to showing me how marriage works, for gifting me a wonderful childhood filled with laughter, hockey, ballet, swimming, orchestra adventures, and a gazillion friends.
My childhood is rich in memories of roaring crackling open fires in my D4 bedroom, endless Christmas eves spent wrapping presents by the tree, going to mass every Sunday and having a spiritual presence in my life. You and Dad you chose me to be your daughter, you idolised Costas, you believed me above all your other children. You are the most selfless, generous, kind, caring, loving, dirty-minded, hilarious, friend, woman, wife, mother, and role model I have the honour to always call my beloved Mom. xx
