My deepest sympathy on Maria’s passing. At this difficult time, Niall, Rory and Sinéad, I wish you strength, and comfort in the knowledge that you were the centre of her life. I knew Maria as your mum, Tony’s wife, and a dear friend of some 50 years, and I deeply regret that I won’t be able to get to Cork to say a last farewell.

Maria was a lovely neighbour and a very good friend to my parents – we’ll always be grateful for the support she gave my father during his illness. My own memory of Maria is that she had such a positive outlook and was a great woman for the chat! Her warm smile and joyful laugh would brighten the darkest day. There are no words I can offer to ease your loss, but I hope that you will find solace in knowing that her suffering is over.

My heart goes out to you all at this very sad time, Niall, Rory and Sinéad. Your mum, Maria, was a wonderful lady, a great neighbour and a good friend to me and Eddie. We had many long chats and shared walks from Friary Gardens to the park. May special memories bring you peace and comfort in your loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
