So sorry Tommy, Mo and all your wonderful family, that you and all of us have lost Marian. She fought so hard against her illness. Such a brave and lovely example to so many that knew her. We’ll all miss her but none more than you. An inspiration to all of hard work, friendliness and always so willing to help in any way needed. Like so many who have written here we too have very many reminders of Marian’s plants around the garden and as if on cue, now coming into bloom; the way we’ll remember Marian forever. Dear Tommy, Mo and family,

I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of Marian. She was a lovely person, one of the first people I met when I moved to Roundwood. She was always welcoming and helpful in such practical ways. I am reminded of Marian everyday when I see the plants she nurtured, growing in my garden. She lives on in many gardens in the village. My favourite piece of advice she gave me about gardening was "plant it, if it doesn't grow, dig it up and plant it somewhere else and if it dies, don't worry, some plants work and thrive in a garden, and some don't". Marian struck me as someone who definitely thrived in her family and community. She was a woman I admired greatly for her hard work and straight forward nature, and care. I am very grateful that I got to know Marian in some measure and I am so sorry that I heard news of her passing too late to attend funeral ceremonies. My sincere sympathies to Tommy, Mo and extended family.

To Tommy, Maureen, TJ and JP, I was much saddened to learn of Marian's death on ringing Tommy on Tuesday morning but it was so apt to learn the sad news in that way. My sympathy to all the family and her sisters and brother Pat. It was my particular pleasure to do business with her going back to the inception of the hardware business and experience the great human qualities notwithstanding any health issues visiting here from time to time. It's not so much that I will not miss her as a client, what will be most missed is the feisty Marian looking to do the best for her customers and all the stakeholders, particularly when the well was not necessarily overflowing. Rest in peace Marian!
