Such sad news. My heart goes out to you all. So tragic. Heartfelt thoughts to her boy Ken. Thinking of you all. Much love.
To Marion's family, especially to Ken:
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Marian's passing just today. I remember Marian at school in Cork and she was always warm, friendly and cheery. I had the good fortune to meet up with her a couple of ears ago when I was back in Cork for a Summer holiday. A group of us who were friends at St Angela's, St Patrick's Hill in the late 60's / early 70's had a reunion and we enjoyed a wonderful evening together, reminiscing about our school days and catching about our families. I am so glad to have seen her then - she was as vivacious and as warm and youthful as ever. R.I.P Marian.
Love, Olive.

I first met Marian , when she became our "new" neighbour , in Belgard Downs , over twenty years ago .
She was the ideal neighbour ; there if you needed any help , witty and friendly and never overbearing .
I loved her gentle mockery of Cork’s poetic – luminaries ; few of whom were aware that she was the sister of one of the City’s greatest writers and lecturers – her late brother ; Robert .
She had an intensity about her , when you spoke to her which I came to appreciate as a deep and thoughtful intelligence .
Conversations , with Marian , could be deep and profound but , invariably, ended in a hearty chuckle .
When we moved , I would regularly see Marian jauntily walking her ever-faithful companion ‘ Charlie ‘ along Rochestown Road .
No small Chihuahua for Marian but a big , sloppy , snugly Labrador !
A wave from the car or a gentle toot of the horn garnered a warm response .
She adored her family , especially Ken .
It is to her family , and wide circle of friends , that I extend my heartfelt sympathy on Marian’s passing .
Perhaps Philip Larkin’s words might offer some comfort ;
‘ What will survive of us is Love ‘.

Forty years , and now you are gone in the blink of an eye
No farewell or 'see you soon'
No more talk of Charlie or split shifts
No wide eyed gazes or knowing smiles.
No more chance meetings or waves in traffic.
No more passing memories of 'the way we were '
No more Shandon Boat Club, Cork Con, crashing in my Opel Kadett and Ford Escort
No more wondering why it all was 'done too soon'
Forever More - You were always part of my life,
Forever More - Who knows ?
Rest in Peace . Bim.

Sincerest condolences to Marian's family on her untimely passing.
A vibrant, friendly, and caring person, she was always a pleasure to meet both on board
Aer Lingus flights, and in Douglas engaging in chat over a cup of coffee.
She will be sadly missed by a large circle of friends with whom she shared her love of life.
May she rest in peace.
