My mother (Anne) already sent a message on our behalf but since I can't be there to say goodbye, I thought I'd write something myself.

First of all, to all our family, because that's what you've always been and will always be in my heart, my deepest condolences and all of my love.

Auntie Marie, I'll never be able to thank you enough for just being yourself. I could say a million things and I've been thinking for days what to write but in the end, what matters most is you were loved immensely.

You had so much love in your heart and I'm just thankful there was enough for you to understand a young mixed-up kid all those years ago and let me know that while people wanted me to be one thing, it was more than enough to just be myself. Your words were delivered in such a way that there was no room for doubt and then they were backed up by that caring, knowing, radiant smile.

I'm still mixed-up, sure, but you let me know it was alright to be. The love and admiration I have for you is unquantifiable by mere words and I'll miss you forever.

I guess what I'm trying to say, the only thing that really matters, I love you.
