I am so very sorry to hear of Marie's passing,i remember her as if it were yesterday.Late 60s i think went to Butlins as a girl Guide,with Marie,Betty Donovan rip and Eileen o' rourke.Marie was one Lovely Lady and will be sadly missed by all who knew her and that was many.She will watch over and still GUIDE us all.May She Rest In Peace.

Sincere sympathy to Billy, Eva, Elaine, Vicki, Tony & the extended Hannigan family, on Marie’s passing. Marie was an inspirational leader, kind, outgoing, determined, thoughtful & funny. A lady with an ability to communicate with all ages, who demonstrated a great passion for life. She remained young at heart, continuously on the look out for ideas on what to plan next. She loved nothing better than being involved in organising something, such as the Guiders trips both national and international, the last of which was to Disneyland Paris. All done with her life long good friend Betty (RIP) at her side and other members of her CGI family. A character who always had a story, suggestion or simple solution to any challenge. Her roguish smile, you could only but smile back at. She will be greatly missed, especially within CGI. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

So heartbroken at the news of Marie’s passing. She fought her illness with such courage and it is so sad to see her go at this time. Guiding has lost a bright light but her spirit will live on in us all as we remember her smile, her sense of fun and adventure and her caring ways. Rest now Marie, your work here is done and you’re back with Betty. Watch over us as we keep our Guiding light shining in memory of you both. Love Mairéad
