Sincere condolences to the MC Closkey and Gorey families on the death of Marie.
We re sorry to hear of Marie s passing. Our sympathy to the McCloskey and Gorey families at this sad time.
Marie s parents were our neighbours in Boyle and Marie was a good friend to Mam over the years. Marie was kind, witty, smart, private, a serious Scrabble player, a beautiful writer, a practical/no nonsense person and very well travelled. She was so talented, a marvellous gardener like her Dad, an artist and a crafter. I have lovely childhood memories of Marie , home on summer holidays, making outfits for me and matching ones for my Doll.
She was a great cook and baker and was an active member of the Country Womens Association here in Boyle. She and Mam met up in Strandhill over the years, but unfortunately not since Covid.
She was devasted after Sheila s passing but her nieces and nephews were her pride and joy. It seems no length ago since she was talking about her hikes afar with Aenghus.
We are thinking of you all.

Sincere sympathy to the McCloskey family on the death of Marie. We have fond memories of Marie as a valued member of Strandhill active retirement.We enjoyed exercises led by Marie at the start of our meetings. Marie was also a very active member of the Sligo walking club. May her gentle soul Rest In Peace.
Sincere sympathy to Marie's family on Marie's death. Marie was a close friend of my late mother Tess when she lived in Boyle. She was a wonderful daughter to her late parents and looked after her father after the death of her mother. She was so proud of her nephews and nieces and particularly loved travelling with one of her nephews in later years. I visited her beautiful home in Strandhill and enjoyed seeing her amazing garden and view of the sea. Marie was very gifted both in cooking and arts and crafts.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of Marie's passing, she was a great friend to my parents Mae and Jack here in Strandhill, used to send my mother the most beautiful cards with loving, kind words when Mum became ill, and after my mum's passing, invited myself and Dad to some beautiful Sunday lunches - she was a marvellous cook, indeed one of my last memories of her is in her kitchen wrapping a Simnel cake she'd made to post to an elderly friend in England. She had great style, beautiful clothes, and I especially loved her Hermes scarves, and I will always treasure the one she gifted me. She will be in my thoughts especially when I garden, and I deeply regret I didn't stay in touch, I meant to seek her out at Christmas. You were so lovely Marie, and such good fun. Sitting in your conservatory with you looking down to the sea are memories I will always hold dear.
