Marie was a great friend of my mother, Kathleen, going back to their time growing up in Galway, and subsequently was a frequent visitor to our house in St Mary's Place where they chatted for hours on end. I'm sure they're catching up now.

I have fond memories of watching Marie on stage in Galway many moons ago, playing lead roles in musicals, while her future husband, Jim, conducted the orchestra. Her talent, beauty and stage presence were outstanding, while her sense of fun and mischief was the “icing on the cake!”.
My mother played in the orchestra, so I got to experience rehearsals also, as an added bonus! I have thought about Marie many times through the years and the other wonderful, dedicated performers and contributors to those musicals I.e. Austin Gaffney, Dodo Courtney plus the cast, chorus and musicians.
May happy memories give you strength and comfort now and in the future and may Marie rest in peace.

Your mum choreographed all the shows for us which raised money for various charities. She treated everyone with the greatest respect.Your late dad was Musical Director of Athlone Musical Society and your mum was the leading lady blessed with a beautiful voice. She also choreographed shows for the musical society. Both your mum and dad contributed so much to music world. Athlone was blessed to have such talent in our town. I first saw your Mum singing as lead here in Galway while your Dad gave me so much help performing with the Athlone Musical society. Also have lovely memories of you both in scouting. When we were leaving Athlone moving to Galway, your Mum had long chats with us about her beloved Galway and what to look out for. She spoke longingly about tobogganing down Hidden Valley when we were setting up our business. We will always treasure her, and Your Dads kindness to us. May she rest in peace.
