From a very early age, I remember Marion as a lovely kind, friendly lady who always had a smile and a hello for everyone. She was a staple on the main street where she worked for many years in the town’s loveliest restaurant. Rest in peace

So sorry to hear of the passing of Marion. She was such a central player in the life of McCarthy's Restaurant on Main Street, Castlebar, down through the years. Great memories of the wonderful times and the friendships I made with Breege and the Ruane family and lovely staff, especially during my years with The Connaught Telegraph. It was my second home in those times. For many of us it was the heartbeat of Castlebar and the 'auld stock' ethos. Marion was such a quiet and humble person, always smiling and in good form and never saying a wrong word about anyone. She was also very proud of her neighbours around Keelogues. Marion, your gentle presence and lovely nature resonated with more people that you ever realised and the sadness at your passing will be felt by many who had the privilege of knowing you. Rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear about the sudden death of lovely Marion, she always so cheerful and full of chat when we met, always said any news from Manulla? I had a long chat with her in Tesco a few weeks ago, she wished me well with my operation but unfortunately I will be unable able to attend her funeral but will watch it on line, Rest in Peace Marion you have earned your just reward reunited with your parents 🙏
